Welcome to Juniper Books

WELCOME to JUNIPER ‘Used and Rare’ Books, Windsor, Ontario’s one and only “house of books”.

From fiction and locally published new books up front to the histories and art titles in the foyer, the store unfolds as far as you meander and covers a lot of literary and non-fiction ground.

Nod to Dostoyevsky at the door. Pick up Plato in the parlor. Sift through social political and critical theory canons in the study.

Muster the courage to be caught in our mystery and true crime room. Find an old favourite in the children’s room. Appraise the antiques and collectors corner downstairs.

Loiter on the landing and linger in a spy thriller. Or be our guest and get into a sci-fi series in the attic.

Aptly named proprietor and logophile Roger Wurdemann, knows that the sweetest stories are oft wrought with prickly personalities and winding plot lines.

So Juniper blooms with classic tales of embitterment and forbidden fruit – foody fare is found, of course, in the kitchen.

Juniper Books is a great source for literary scholars, collectors, avid readers, or anyone looking for a great selection of good quality used books. Reasonable prices and the constantly changing inventory make it worthwhile to check back regularly and see what’s available.

Ukiyo-e, or "Pictures of the Floating World" came into existence in late 16th Century. Urbanization led to the development of a class of merchants and artisans who began writing stories and painting pictures. Ukiyo-e were often used for illustrations in these books, but came into their own as single sheet prints or were posters for the Kabuki theatres. Three major themes of Ukiyo-e prints are nature, life of the Geisha, and Kabuki.
